The property, bounded by 100-year-old dry-stone walls, is well worth exploring and provides many places for a quiet country walk or picnic. There is a freshwater brook that runs into a large and very inviting swimming hole, as well as pockets of untouched natural rainforest. The area is alive with Australian native bird life including black cockatoos, rosellas, kookaburras, doves and catbirds, playful fairy wrens, firetail finches and willy wagtails. Glimpse a curious wallaby down by the creek side. The surrounding hills are usually dotted with grazing dairy cattle. Wander through 2 acres of lovely landscaped gardens filled with lavender hedges, lucadendrons, butterfly plants, ginger lilies, agapanthus, olives, figs, citrus trees and a kitchen garden with herbs. THE COUNTRY HOUSE The well appointed Country House is rural Federation in design. Enter the circular driveway, park close to the home, then make your way inside through the welcoming entry doors. Immediately you will see the rural and ocean views across the sunny hilltop gardens which are accessed through one of the many French Doors. There are five bedrooms (2 king and 3 queen), all with private ensuite bathrooms, 3 of which have two-person spa baths. All rooms are individually themed, tastefully decorated and furnished with great attention to detail. All have flatscreen TVs with Austar, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers and each bedroom has French Doors opening onto a shaded private verandah. There are a selection of living areas in the Country House: ¿ The Reading Sunroom has comfortable armchairs and lounges, a wood-fired heater, a library of books and DVDs, a CD player and a superb view with entry out to the Open Garden scheme garden. ¿ The large dining area is located close to the well-equipped country kitchen (the kitchen garden is not far away and is stocked with herbs and some vegetables). ¿ The spacious main living room has ample comfy sofas, a large flatscreen TV/DVD and wood-fired heater. Snuggle up in front of the fire with a good DVD and bottle of wine. ¿ There is a separate powder room with toilet and basin near the Laundry Room with washing machine, dryer and ironing board. THE SELF-CONTAINED COTTAGES (Pet Friendly) The self-contained cottages are located privately on the Retreat¿s acreage, all have brilliant views of surrounding hills and valley, fully appointed kitchen, lounge and bathrooms

Directions to Spring Creek Retreat: From Sydney on the Princes Highway, turn left into Kiama just after Bombo Beach. Turn right at second roundabout along Terralong Street (at the War Memorial) Drive west for 3km up Jamberoo Road and turn left at the top of the hill into Jerrara Road. Spring Creek Retreat is 200m on the left at the first bend in road.
