Things To Do

Beach

Walk out of the living room across the garden on to the beach in 10 seconds. (is that close enough for you?)

Reef

Oak Beach just south of Port Douglas has its own coral reefs just offshore and the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef is only a short distance out on the horizon. Boat trips daily to the Reef from Port Douglas or Cairns for scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing.

Rainforest

Oak Beach is in a World Heritage Rainforest area. Cross the Daintree River half an hour North (watch for crocodiles from the ferry) and experience one of the greatest wilderness areas on earth and visit magnificent Cape Tribulation.

Food

Port Douglas, only ten minutes away boasts the best restaurants in Australia. Alternatively, stay home and relax and prepare your own meals in the five star kitchen or barbecue around the swimming pool.

Nightlife

There's nothing better than watching the moon rise over the Coral Sea with a good glass of champagne and a friend, on your very own beach at your front door. Or if you're looking for more excitement Port Douglas and Cairns have several good bars, clubs and entertainment venues. The "Reef Casino" is at Cairns.

Weather

Good one day, perfect the next (so they say !). Average temperatures, Summer (Nov - Jan) 23 deg C - 31 deg C. Winter (May - Aug) 18 deg C - 26 deg C. We enjoy a tropical summer. The Boathouse has both ceiling fans and air conditioning and is very comfortable in all seasons. The Oak Beach winters are truly spectacular.

Other Activities

Great shopping - markets and world class shopping at Port Douglas, Cairns and Kuranda. Excellent environment for photography, horse riding and 4 wheel drive trips. Reef, rainforest and Tableland tours. Or a great option is to stay put at The Boathouse with a good book, fine food and friends.

Regardless of what you choose to do Oak Beach Boathouse is perfectly placed to explore all the region has to offer.

Travel Directions

About Oak Beach

Oak Beach is an idyllic stretch of white coral sand beachfront backing onto lowland tropical rainforest and sheltered by a rocky headland in the foothills of the World Heritage listed mountain range between Cairns and Port Douglas.

Oak Beach has gained a reputation as being a holiday destination for the discerning traveller, with seclusion and privacy on offer to those lucky enough to have access to one of the less than a dozen luxury beachfront villas and beach houses that make up the closed community of Oak Beach.

Just 10 minutes south of Port Douglas and 45 minutes north of Cairns International Airport, Oak Beach has easy access to the major attractions of Tropical North Queensland, but is far enough from the hustle and bustle that relaxation is assured.
