"Harrowfield" is a three bedroom cottage built in the Victorian era, we believe in 1894. It is ideal for that romantic weekend for two or for a family holiday of up to 6 people.
The house still retains many of its old period features such as high pressed steel or baltic pine ceilings, wood fires, leadlight windows, brass beds etc. but also has many modern comforts including central gas heating, double spa bath, modern kitchen, dishwasher, lockup off-street garage, 2 TVs, DVD, VCR and so on.
The study has a Fax, XP Computer and Broadband access which are also available to guests at no charge and a library of approx. 600 books.
The rear yard is fully fenced and is suited to pets or young children. Under Local Council bylaws, pets are not permitted in the house unless appropriately registered seeing eye dogs or similar.
Harrowfield also has available the services of the Go2000.com City Sightseeing / Historical Tours plus half and full day tours of the region taking in such places as the Grampians, Great Ocean Road, Goldfields Towns, Daylesford, Hanging Rock, Mount Macedon, Geelong, Wineries, Gardens or Melbourne Sports and Shopping Tours.
Harrowfield is located centrally to Ballarat's Commerce, Manufacturing and Administration Cemtres.
It has a Study equipped with an XP Computer, Broadband connection for your own Laptop and a fax machine - all free to guests of Harrowfield House.
Lockup car parking is available in our on-site garage.
Telephone approx. 20 minutes before you wish to book in and you will be met at Harrowfield with keys, a welcome and an explanation of the house's facilties.
Children are welcome and we provide higchair, toys, DVD & Video players and a fully fenced rear yard.
Ballarat and region is full of things to do for all ages. The major local attraction is Sovereign Hill by day and also the brilliant night-time show "Blood on the Southern Cross".
There is the excellently presented Ballarat Wildlife Park, Ballarat Bird World and the magificent Ballarat Fine Arty Gallery - rated No 5 in Australia and housing the original Eureka Flag.
There is the Eureka Centra, Gold Museum, Gold Shop, Rivers Shoe Factory Outlet, quality woollen goods at the Woolshed Clothing and Willabaa not to mention a wide range of Antique Shops.
For the younger members of the family , apart from Soveregn Hill, Wildlife and Bird Parks there is a monster playground at the famous Ballarat Botanic Gardens, the Tangled Maze, an Electronic Games Centre.
For the energetic there is Swimming, Baskeball, Skate Parks, Badminton, Golf, Tennis, Bowls both indoor and outdoor, Croquet, Go-Carts and a host of other sporting activities.
Ballarat's Gardens both Public and Private are world reknown as are the old Mansions and Public buildings stemming from the wealth of the Victorian Goldrush of the 1870's & 80's.
Out of the City there are Wineries, intriguing Old Gold towns, the Grampians, the Great Ocean Road, Geelong, Hanging Rock and Mount Macedon which are all within a 2 hr drive or can be visited with experienced guides through Go2000.com Travel Tours.
Similarly there is a bus transfer service between Ballarat and Melbourne for all Adelaide Crows & Port Power AFL matches and similar transfers to Melbourne Markets and Theatre Shows - all transfers and Theatre Tickets to shows such as "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" and "Billy Elliot" can be arranged as a package through Harrowfield House.
Harrowfield House is located at 106 Ripon St (South ) - beware that streets crossing Ballarat's main street ( Sturt Street) have a North and a South. Be sure to turn into Ripon Street South and you will find us a little over one block from Sturt Street.
